The Milwaukee Urban League (MUL) is announcing a new voter engagement initiative “Reclaim Your Vote” partnering with local organizations and business through the upcoming election on November 3, 2020. The Get Out the Vote efforts and activities will focus on voter education, registration, participation, and census information at various locations throughout the city.

As a part of the National Urban League’s (NUL) ongoing campaign for Civic Engagement and Voter Outreach, Milwaukee has been identified as one of the 13 key cities where Get Out the Vote efforts will be critical in this fall’s upcoming elections. NUL has provided a $25,000 grant and technical assistance to The Milwaukee Urban League and other selected local affiliates nationwide to launch this initiative to support voter engagement and participation. The MUL Reclaim Your Vote Initiative will offer a series of ongoing efforts and activities focusing on a five-point approach aimed at providing information and increasing the black vote in Milwaukee during this crucial election:Voter Registration

- Confirm voter registration
- Know what your state or locality requires to vote
- Be aware of deadlines related to requesting an absentee ballot
Know the candidates and know the issues
- Know who and what is on the ballot
- Identify priority issues and concerns

- Know when in-person voting begins and ends, including early voting

These efforts will kick off in the upcoming weeks with Voter Education and Registration Volunteer Training leading to weekly voter engagement activities that will be announced throughout the election season. MUL will also soon announce plans for an upcoming local voter engagement event in conjunction with the NUL National Black Voter Day on Friday September 18, 2020 emphasizing voter registration and absentee voting.
