Our Work

Advocacy

Greater Milwaukee Urban League stands in the gap — advancing homeownership, health equity, and a better quality of life for African American residents and Milwaukee's diverse communities.

Homeownership Advocacy

Greater Milwaukee Urban League's homeownership advocacy work is essential to our commitment to the Greater Milwaukee Area. On average, 26 percent of African American residents are homeowners, compared to 72 percent of whites. This creates a wealth gap, impacting generations to come.

Collaborating with developers, leaders, supporters, and the community, this new initiative will address housing discrimination and the disparity gap for African American residents in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

Health & Wellness

Health Advocacy

Empowering families to have a better quality of life includes addressing healthcare and well-being needs. GMUL joins local and national leaders, healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, and the community to address health disparities and inequities.

Our advocacy work connects African Americans and members of Milwaukee's diverse communities with the tools and information needed to lead and live healthier lives.
